Dear Vltava Runners,
Less than a month to go until the start! Preparations are reaching their peak, your form is coming together, and we believe you are already looking forward to giving it your all on the course. But before that happens, there is one important thing to do first: pack up everything you will need to keep you light on your feet and ready for the race.
Before we begin, one important update: the Race Instructions (czech only) and the Prediction Chart are now available to download in the captain’s section. This year, every runner has access. Simply register in the captain’s section using the email address listed there for each runner.

Let’s Get Organised
Packing can sometimes make you sweat more than the race itself, so let’s make it easier.
Throwing all your running gear into one big pile may help tidy your closet, but it will not make packing any calmer or easier.
A system is your best friend, especially if you start early.
That way, you can pack in sections instead of all at once: what you need for your runs, what you will need between relay legs, what to bring for overnight stays, and not just for the night in the car, but also for Friday night if you are heading toward Šumava in advance.
Still Time to Gear Up
The good news is, there is still time to pick up anything you are missing.
Or replace older running gear that has already done its job with something new, while still leaving yourself enough time to test it before race day.

The Small Things That Make a Big Difference
When packing, think about one thing: what do you automatically reach for at home before and after a run?
Those are exactly the items most often forgotten on race weekend. Not because they are complicated, but because they feel so obvious that they are easy to overlook.
Try walking through your running ritual step by step, so you remember what you really want to have close at hand.
Check your headlamp. Not just that you packed it, but that it actually works.
Where will you keep the things you need constant access to? Your phone, headlamp, snacks, anything you do not want to keep digging out of the trunk every time.
How will you charge your phone or watch? Do you have a power bank strong enough for the weekend?
And then there are the more personal essentials. Do you wear contact lenses? Make sure you have a plan for managing them overnight when you will not be in your usual comfort zone, so your eyes are not suffering on Sunday morning.
Do you have allergies? Do not forget your personal “just-in-case kit”, the things you simply cannot do without.
These seemingly small details can make all the difference in helping you stay calm and comfortable during the race.
